Tetrao Tetrix Trio, Kryštof Pátra & Jiří Volejník | concert

TETRAO TETRIX is a trio composed of two alto-range instruments of different types, rounded to the nearest semitone. One is made of strings, wood, and horsehair; the other is made of metal, reed, leather, and plastic. The third point of the triangle is formed mainly by electrons and membranes. What can be said about the music being prepared? It is improbable. It pays close attention to detail: it is extreme. Full of tension.

Kryštof Pátra is a musician based in Brno with an interest in exploring and pushing the boundaries of extreme sound and the situations surrounding it. In his practice he uses the programming environment Pure Data for sound synthesis and processing, DIY controllers, MIDI DJ controllers, saxophone, and other instruments. Currently he most often performs with the projects Fvck Kryštof and Kurátorský výběr, as a solo performer, in various ad hoc formations, or as a sound designer for the project O 12 měsících by the performance collective D’epog. Alongside his musical activities, he also runs the DIY space Rello, where he organizes the concert series Karnevál.

Jiří Volejník, aka VJ JV, works with the analog manipulation of live-generated optical feedback. He most often performs with Martin Režný as Säkkikangas + VJ JV, and has also collaborated with Atomic Candy Creeps, BNSU, Demdike Stare, and Fire Like Fire.

The concert is organized by Bludný kámen in cooperation with the Institute of Film, Television and Radio Production of Silesian University in Opava, and is supported by the budget of the Statutory City of Opava. The performance of the Tetrao Tetrix Trio is supported by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia.
