Home is one of the most important archetypes in Ukraine, as it is in many cultures around the world. The image of the lost home belongs to the oldest artistic motifs and appears already in mythology. Yet we rarely speak of a home that has lost its people. Civilians killed in missile and air strikes, soldiers fallen in war, people who left their homes to escape the fighting, people who departed in the illusory search for a better life, people driven away by fear, and those who abandoned their homes because of betrayal. Their houses remained. Houses that preserve the memories of those who will never return to remember.

Мистецьке об’єднання НУРТ / NURT Art Association was founded in Lviv in 2011 as an independent multidisciplinary initiative by artist Mykhailo Barabash and composer Ostap Manuliak. It brings together Ukrainian artists working in audiovisual and digital art, experimental music, performance, and intermedia practices. Among those involved in the collective’s activities are Yuriy Bulka, Ostap Manko, Serhiy Petliuk, Roman Haideichuk, Yaryna Shumska, and others. Through its projects, the group addresses themes of war, memory, ecology, culture, and history, while seeking to promote and develop contemporary Ukrainian experimental art in a broader European and international context. Since its foundation, the collective has realized more than thirty festivals, exhibitions, concerts, workshops, lectures, and interdisciplinary projects. Among the most notable are the International Audiovisual Art Festival TETRAMATYKA, the electroacoustic music festival VOX ELECTRONICA, the projects Sacred Space and PANOPTICON, and the contemporary music ensemble ConstantY.

The exhibition is part of the EDO 2026–2028 project. The project is co-financed by the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic on the basis of a decision by the Minister of the Environment.
