Three guitars, three soloists in an endless dialogue with their instruments. Like most guitarists, they first simply used their instruments before beginning to question their expressive possibilities. After the phase in which the instrumentalist tunes themself to the instrument, a time comes to reverse the relationship (if only to give it a second life).

They share the idea that playing is not about controlling the instrument, but about acknowledging its physicality. They also share a search for new articulations and sound preparations, though their purposes differ. In the improvisations of Doskocz and Kostkiewicz, sound events open pathways to further events, while in the compositions of the Strzał w Kolano project they function more as loosely binding building blocks.

The format of three solo performances suggests that a higher-order relationship may emerge between them, with dialogues gradually turning into a trialogue. And it is precisely in this that the social significance of the project lies.

PAWEŁ DOSKOCZ A Polish guitarist who often uses preparations in his search for new sonic possibilities of the instrument. He focuses on improvised music and draws inspiration from many sources. By reducing means, he seeks to stimulate his imagination and expand the field of possibilities.

HUBERT KOSTKIEWICZ A guitarist whose distinctive “physical” style was shaped in the band Kurws. He is also active in the post-punk band Atol Atol Atol. Outside of band projects, he gives free rein to his fascination with concrete, electroacoustic, and improvised music. He searches for articulations arising from limitations and from the imperfections of playing and recording. His explorations are most often conducted with electric guitar, but he also works with acoustic instruments, modified field recordings, and dub mixes.

STRZAŁ W KOLANO Jakub Majchrzak is an independent musician active on the DIY scene for twenty years—as a band member (Kurws, Przepych, Norymberga, Pustostany, among others), as a solo artist, as a composer, and as a collaborator on numerous improvised performances.
