Concert

49.525304N, 18.1773815E

A symposium exploring deep listening through listening itself, being here and now, and the live creation of abstract sound models over 12 hours. An experimental gathering examining the possibilities of “listening” as a phenomenon; one of the key tools for opening co-empathy. Listening in different variations.

SLÁVEK KWI is a Czech-born, Ireland-based sound artist fascinated by environmental sounds, the process of their perception, and the listener’s interaction connected to it – their interpretation. Under the names Artificial Memory Trace, alfa00, Kwi, sonoent00, or Quarantaine he has produced dozens if not hundreds of recordings largely based on attentive listening to the surroundings and their subtle presentation, recalling the lowercase trend. Despite the sheer quantity of output, what is remarkable is the patience with which Kwi gives sounds space in often extremely long compositions, and the filigree-detailed textures that quietly emerge from silence only to dissolve back into it. When alfa00, in his unconventional texts, describes sound as a space of unlimited possibilities, it may sound vague, but it reveals his approach to creation.

TOMÁŠ ŠENKYŘÍK, musicologist and sound hunter, focuses in his work on the sounds of the forest – especially bird vocalizations – mapping water landscapes, and even the sonic potential of his own garden. His practice moves along the borders of acoustic ecology, sound art, and environmental activism. His recordings have been released on labels such as LOM, Slowcraft, Skupina, Blue Lizard, and others.

TOMÁŠ KNOFLÍČEK is a musician, sound designer, and curator. His compositions combine glitch structures, computer deconstruction, soundscaping, field recordings, and acoustic instruments, including the historical psaltery or guitar. For Knoflíček, working with sound is a way to develop sensitivity toward the surrounding world and the phenomena or situations within it. His pieces act as time capsules in which he stores specific stimuli, while also serving as a means of fixing and concentrating his restless mind. Tomáš Knoflíček is a member of the quartet Gurun Gurun (Home Normal, Silver Rocket, Buh Records) and the audiovisual project LyrArkestra+, focused on interpreting graphic scores by major Czech and Slovak visual artists (Milan Adamčiak, Jan Steklík, etc.). He has released two solo albums on the labels LOM and LAAPS.

MARTIN REŽNÝ is an Ostrava-based musician, concert organizer, and founder of the festival series Hlukovæ Mysteria. He plays electronics and modulars solo or in improvising lineups ranging from overwhelming noise to nearly inaudible sounds (Concert for Animals on Czech Radio Vltava – Prix Europa 2021 in the music category). He has performed or recorded with Kazehito Seki, Ryosuke Kiyasu, Slávek Kwi, Kryštof Pátra, Massola, and the voice band V koupelně je břitva (“There’s a razor in the bathroom”). He releases cassettes and vinyls on Korobushka Records.
